Sunny Day Fun Time Created by: Youth from The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia Made possible by support from: Virginia Donelson Studios Pure joy, painted by kids. Sunny Day Fun Time is a turquoise Labrador covered edge to edge in a garden of imagination. Stars scatter across the face, a bright yellow polka-dot nose adds a playful touch, and hearts cascade down the neck. Throughout the body, butterflies, bees, and ladybugs are tucked among purple and pink flowers and climbing vines, creating a colorful meadow filled with details to discover. The legs fade into painted blades of grass, making it look as though this cheerful Lab has stepped right into the meadow covering its body. What makes this statue especially meaningful is that every detail began with a child’s imagination. Youth from The Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Virginia each contributed their own ideas and creativity, bringing them together into one joyful, colorful piece of art. Sunny Day Fun Time is more than a bright and playful Labrador—it’s a celebration of creativity, community, and the magic that happens when young artists come together. It’s the kind of piece that can bring a little more color and joy to a home, garden, classroom, office, or community space.
